Good News on the Safety Front

We believe it’s important to partner with companies that prioritize safety. If you agree, you’ll like that Continental is elevating their safety standard for steam hose.

The company is transitioning all its 10:1 steam hose product to a 20:1 Design Factor.

Also known as the Safety Factor or Safety Ratio, the Design Factor is defined as the relationship between the maximum working pressure the hose is rated for and the minimum pressure at which the hose will likely burst. Those bursts typically occur because of a sudden surge in pressure or an increase in internal or external temperatures.

Due to the potential dangers of working with steam applications, Continental is doubling the protection against unexpected hose bursts. As the existing 10:1 inventory is depleted it will be replaced with new 20:1 Design Factor hose.

This change will not result in a price increase.

The steam hose you need is ready to ship from all three Binkelman locations. We typically buy crimped assemblies directly from Continental, but when we make the assembly ourselves, we follow the strict crimping standards established by Continental.
